The Application Forum, which is taking place this year at the Panorama Congress Center Berlin, will feature presentations on new applications in the field of smart textiles. Our expert Maxime Krier from the department »Flow and Material Simulation« gives a lecture entitled »Efficient Simulation Techniques for the Digital Development and Optimization of Textiles«

MESHFREE can be used to simulate a wide range of situations as it efficiently adapts to moving geometry elements such as agitators of mixing devices or the movement of free surfaces. In the course, we will give an overview of the tool and show how the software can best support your requirements.

Our expert Dr. Franz-Josef Pfreundt will be at the Energy High Performance Computing Conference with a poster on our software stack »Carme – An Open-Source Software Stack for Multi-User Interactive Jobs on HPC Clusters«. He will also be presenting the main topics of work in our division »High Performance Computing«.

JEC World is the global trade fair for composite materials and their applications and takes place in Paris. Our departments »Material Characterization and Testing« and »Flow and Material Simulation« will also be part of the Fraunhofer booth.

The 86th Heidelberg Image Processing Forum, which is being organized this year by the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA, will focus on virtual image processing. Dr. Petra Gospodnetic will be giving a presentation.

From March 10 to 12, 2024, we are hosting a meeting for Master's students and PhD students in the field of terahertz research, where young researchers from the terahertz community will have the opportunity to present their work in a friendly and welcoming international environment.

The Commercial Vehicle Technology Symposium is a two-day conference held on the campus of the Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU). The conference includes approximately 50 technical papers and poster presentations focusing on international trends and technological developments in the commercial vehicle industry. The symposium will be accompanied by a trade exhibition with companies and a special vehicle exhibition.

The Society for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM) is an association for the promotion of scientific work. Our colleagues from the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering«, the department »Transport Processes« and the department »Flow and Material Simulation« will be on site with several presentations.

The Tire Technology Expo is the central European conference and trade fair for tire manufacturing technologies. Our colleagues from the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« will be representing our institute on site.

The »Artificial Intelligence in Architecture, Engineering and Construction« (AI in AEC) is part of the Artificial Intelligence in the Built Environment conference series. Anna Nowacka is on site for the department »Image Processing« and will give a lecture on »Deep Learning Based Crack Segmentation in 3D Computed Tomography Images of Concrete«.

The ICCF conferences demonstrate the progressive connection between finance, mathematics and computational innovation. The current 2024 conference is organized by Utrecht University and will take place from 2 to 5 April at the CWI in Amsterdam, a renowned center for mathematical and computational research.

The »Versicherungsforen Leipzig« organize the specialist conference »Risk Management and Capital Investment in Insurance 2024« for specialists and managers from the insurance industry. The focus is on ESG risks, Solvency II Review and innovative investment strategies. Marcus Willems and Mark-Oliver Wolf will give a presentation on Solvency II and AI.

The embedded world Exhibition and Conference is the industry meeting place for the embedded community, leading experts and industry associations. A team from the division »High Performance Computing« and the department »Financial Mathematics« will be at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft's joint booth (Hall 4, Stand 422) to present our »Neural Architecture Search for Embedded Applications« (NASE) service.

PaintExpo is the world's leading trade fair for industrial coating technology. We will be there with a team from the department »Materials Characterization and Testing« and will be presenting our work in the field of coating thickness measurement of single and multi-layer coatings using terahertz measurement technology.

The Advanced Battery Power Conference brings together experts from the field of battery technology to promote the exchange between industry and research. Our colleague Dr. Jochen Zausch from the »Flow and Material Simulation« department will be represented with a poster on »Electrolyte Wetting in the Production of Lithium Ion Batteries: A Simulation Approach«.

The kick-off event for the German Biotechnology Days 2024 will take place on April 15 at the Rhineland-Palatinate State Representation to the Federal Government and the European Union in Berlin. Our head of the institute Prof. Dr. Anita Schöbel will be on site and will give a short presentation on the topic »Risks and Opportunities from the Perspective of AI«

The Automotive CAE Grand Challenge promotes the exchange between companies, science and software development to solve these challenges. Our colleague Dr. Jörg Kuhnert from the department »Transport Processes« will be present at a booth of our distribution partner scapos AG.

We are represented with colleagues at the joint booth of the Fraunhofer Center Kaiserslautern at the »Career Fair Uni Mannheim«. Students and graduates can inform themselves about their career opportunities.

This one-week course, which we organize in cooperation with Fraunhofer FOKUS, offers an introduction to the basics of quantum computing and the most important algorithms. It provides an overview of the basics of quantum mechanics, quantum gates and circuits, quantum programming and areas of application.

Together with our project partners, we are offering an online workshop as part of the conference. Marvin Schulte from the department »Transport Processes« will give a presentation at this workshop entitled »The SEMSAI Research Project – Predicting the Development of Pandemics«.
