Smart Textiles Application Forum 2024

Application Potential in the Textile Industry

Smart textiles are simulation-based optimization of manufacturing and design parameters in order to achieve the desired mechanical properties of the textile. There is great application potential here in the textile industry, as classic design processes based on the trial-and-error principle are still very common. In view of rising energy and material costs and the desire for more sustainability in production, simulation tools can make an important contribution to efficient textile design.

This year, the Textile Research Institute Thüringen Vogtland (TITV) e. V. Greiz is organizing the twelfth application forum in cooperation with the Forschungskuratorium Textil e. V. Berlin and the German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF) at the Panorama Congress Center in Berlin.

Our expert Maxime Krier from the department »Flow and Material Simulation« gives a lecture entitled »Efficient Simulation Techniques for the Digital Development and Optimization of Textiles« in the block »AI / Digitalization / Sustainability«.

Among other things, the TexMath software, which works on application-oriented examples and in particular with possible applications in the field of smart textiles, will be presented.

In addition to the presentations, discussions by and with companies, start-ups and developers and an accompanying exhibition, there will also be guided tours of the BSH Hausgeräte GmbH laundry care technology center, the historic Siemensstadt and behind the scenes at the Olympic Stadium.
