The annual »THz Young Scientists Meeting« provides an international platform for young scientists to exchange ideas and learn about the latest developments in Terahertz (THz) research. It consists of short talks and poster sessions as well as social networking events. Our colleague Felix Paries from the department »Materials Characterization and Testing« will give a talk titled »Spintronic Terahertz Emitter on a Fiber-Tip«.

The VMC® and U·Sim software suites provide everything you need to analyze vehicle usage in different markets and regions, plan measurement campaigns, evaluate data, and simulate vehicle load and performance based on appropriate vehicle and driver models embedded in an efficient environmental model.

Die»International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter and Terahertz Waves« (IRMMW-THz) findet alle drei Jahre statt und ist das älteste und größte kontinuierliche Forum, das sich speziell mit dem Bereich der Ultrahochfrequenzelektronik und -anwendungen befasst. The conference will take place in Bellevue, Washington, from 17 to 22 September 2023. We will be there with our colleague Mark-Oliver Wolf from the department »Financial Mathematics«. He will present a paper on: »Quantum Architecture Search for Quantum Monte Carlo Integration via Conditional Parameterised Circuits with Application to Finance«.

The 28th Dresden District Heating Colloquium will focus on the key issues involved in the heat turnaround and the accompanying transformation of heat generation and municipal heat planning (kWP). Johanna Heidrich and Dr. Jan Mohring from the department »Transport Processes« will participate with their own booth on site. In addition, Dr. Jan Mohring will give a presentation entitled »Dynamic Simulation of District Heating Networks«.

In the current vehicle development process for global markets, good data on relevant environmental conditions and usage variability models are critical for deriving correct design requirements and targets. This affects several areas in the development cycle, in particular the classic durability for the powertrain and the evaluation of the vehicle's energy efficiency.

The annual European Microwave Week (EuMW) is a major event in the field of microwave research. It combines several sub-events, including the European Radar Conference (EuRAD). A team from our department »Materials Characterization and Testing« is also taking part: Dr. Fabian Friederich, Dr. Andreas Keil and Shiva Mohammadzadeh will each give a lecture there.

The German Aerospace Congress (DLRK) is the most important scientific and technical networking event in the field of aerospace in Germany. Our colleague Quirin Hösch of the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« will hold a lecture entitled »Structural mechanical analysis of a historical aircraft wing using the example of Gustav Weißkopf's No. 21«.

MESHFREE can be used to simulate a wide range of situations as it efficiently adapts to moving geometry elements such as agitators of mixing devices or the movement of free surfaces. In the course, we will give an overview of the tool and show how the software can best support your requirements.

The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for applied mathematicians from academia, research laboratories and industry to exchange ideas and present recent results. The focus of the second edition of KLAIM is on the synthesis of models and data.

The Digital Week Dortmund 2023 is the largest decentralized trade fair in the Westphalian region. It makes it possible for companies to find impulses and contacts in the digital economy and to present their innovations to visitors. Our employees of the department »System Analysis, Prognosis and Control« will be on site and participate in a panel discussion on the topic »Demonstrator Energy Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance«.

At the international conference on Highly Flexible Slender Structures, a large team of experts from our division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« is participating with presentations.

On September 26 and 27, the KIP network meeting »Making repositories and AI systems usable in everyday care« will take place in Berlin. BMBF funding programs will be presented here. Among them is »ViKI pro«, in which the ITWM is participating via the division »Optimization«.

KIT Center MathSEE is one of the eight interdisciplinary research centers at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). We will participate in the symposium with experts from the MESHFREE team on site and present our work in two lectures.

Machine und Deep Learning Seminar: Dr. Hadi M. Dolatabadi, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at ARC Center of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S) will hold a lecture on »A Novel Perspective on Robustness in Deep Learning«.

The Jurojin statistical software was specially developed for planning and evaluating fatigue strength tests. The user guidance and algorithms used help to solve typical tasks faster and more efficiently. At our Technology Days we present selected tasks and their solution in Jurojin.

The workshop offers a unique opportunity for scientific discussions and personal networking between researchers from academia and practice to communicate and shape the issues of future process engineering.

We will be present at PARTICLES 2023 on 09.10.2023 with our experts from our department »Transport Processes« and the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« and give presentations.

The Mathematical Research Data Initiative (MaRDI) invites all interested parties to discuss mathematical research data, present their own ideas and services, and make new connections in a three-day noon-to-noon workshop with talks, hands-on sessions, and a barcamp. The goal of MaRDI is to make research data discoverable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. Up to now, however, they have often been available in a decentralized, project-related manner or only for a limited period of time. Fraunhofer ITWM is a member of the initiative and helps to achieve this goal thanks to the commitment of our institute director Dr. Anita Schöbel and Dr. Christine Biedinger. The talk that Dr. Christine Biedinger will give is about the capture of complex workflows in structured workflow schemas.

The »Spin Phenomena Interdisciplinary Center« (SPICE) of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz organizes a workshop on the new research field of terahertz spintronics, which combines the topics of magnetism, spintronics and ultrafast optics. Our colleague Felix Paries from the department »Materials Characterization and Testing« will participate in this workshop and give a talk.

Our expert, Dr. Scherrer gives a lecture at the Demography Week 2023. Prof. Dr. Schöbel will also take part in the subsequent panel discussion.

The annual conference of the German Association for Materials Research and Testing in 2023 will focus on digitization, which is creating new impulses in many respects with regard to fatigue strength design. A team from the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« will have an exhibition booth and, together with representatives from John Dere, will give a presentation at the conference.

The herCAREER expo supports women in their professional environment. The fair offers numerous opportunities for a direct exchange of experiences with experts and personalities from business, science, culture, politics and the media.

The Fraunhofer ITWM will be at the European Quantum Technology Conference from October 18 to 19. At the event, the results of European research in the field of quantum computing will be presented. Fraunhofer ITWM is also involved in this cutting-edge research with the Competence Center Quantum Computing Rhineland-Palatinate. Our expert Shivan Sharma from our department »Financial Mathematics« is on site and presents a poster on quantum computing.

On 18 and 19.10.23 the 2nd General Assembly Meeting for the EU EH project Relevium will take place. Our colleagues Dr. Alexander Scherrer and Dr. Maximilian Pilz from the division »Optimization« will be present and represent our institute.

This conference is designed to bring together experts from the medical technology industry. Our staff from the »Flow and Material Simulation« department will be holding a presentation entitled »Computer-Aided Engineering for Process and Product Optimization in Medical Technology«.

This event has been postponed to 22.11.2023. In the joint project »EnerQuant: Energy Economics Fundamental Modeling with Quantum Algorithms«, our researchers from the department "Financial Mathematics" and the area »High Performance Computing« use advantages of quantum computing for the energy industry. We will present the results of this work in the workshop.
