MaRDI Workshop on Mathematical Research Data

Math Meets Information Specialists

The Mathematical Research Data Initiative (MaRDI) invites all interested parties to discuss mathematical research data, present their own ideas and services, and make new connections in a three-day noon-to-noon workshop with talks, hands-on sessions, and a barcamp.

The goal of MaRDI is to make research data discoverable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. Up to now, however, they have often been available in a decentralized, project-related manner or only for a limited period of time. Fraunhofer ITWM is a member of the initiative and helps to achieve this goal thanks to the commitment of our institute director Dr. Anita Schöbel and Dr. Christine Biedinger.

The talk that Dr. Christine Biedinger will give is about capturing complex workflows in structured workflow schemas. The concepts developed so far to improve the workflow will be demonstrated on concrete use cases. They originate from applied research and therefore touch on different areas of mathematics, such as modeling, optimization, statistics or machine learning – so they are not limited to a specific area of mathematics.
