In our Math Talent School for MINT-EC schools, students have the opportunity to gain practical experience in workshops and with individual support and to work in teams on real challenges in applied mathematics.

We are participating in the Fraunhofer Battery Days - industry-specific networking event - on the topic of »Fast Charging Capability for Electromobility«. Our colleagues Dr. Jochen Zausch and Falco Schneider from the department »Flow and Material Simulation« are organizing one of the interactive workshop »Market Stalls« on various topics.

The Technology Days of the Fraunhofer Vision Business Unit are aimed at representatives from industry, research and development who are interested in the current status and possible industrial applications of these technologies. Our institute director Prof. Dr. Anita Schöbel as well as department head Markus Rauhut and Dr. Ronald Rösch, head of »Strategic Research« of the »Image Processing« division, each give a lecture in the lecture hall at Fraunhofer ITWM.

The Deep Learning Seminar is organized by employees from the field »Data Analysis and Machine Learning« in the department »High Performance Computing«. This week's topic is »From spiking neural networks to event-based AI – the SpiNNaker2 system «

Dr. Joachim Jonuscheit, deputy head of the department »Materials Characterization and Testing«, will be on site to present our exhibit on terahertz measurement technology for non-destructive inline coating thickness measurement.

Industrial services from specialized service companies as well as internal maintenance and repair organizations are exhibited at IN.STAND. Our colleague Dr. Benjamin Adrian, deputy department head »System Analysis, Prognosis and Control« and his team, consisting of Dr. Alex Sarishvili, Julia Burr and Marvin Jung, represent our institute on site at their own booth.

The 85th Heidelberg Image Processing Forum, hosted this year by our institute, focuses on computed tomography in image processing to perform non-destructive examinations of materials. Experts present advances in image processing, accompanied by exhibitions and university tours.

With presentations from the fields of industry, operational practice and research, innovative developments in the nonwovens sector will be presented again this year. Our colleagues Dr. Dietmar Hietel and Dr. Walter Arne from the department »Transport Processes« will give a presentation. They will also have a booth on site.

Dr. Joachim Jonuscheit will be on site, giving a presentation titled »Terahertz – An Innovative Measurement Technique for Non-destructive Testing of Fiber Composite Components.«

Machine und Deep Learning Seminar: Felix Matthias Draxler of the University of Heidelberg will give a lecture about the topic »Analyzing and Lifting Architectural Constraints on Normalizing Flows«

Yannick Becker from the division »Financial Mathematics« will give a presentation on the use of Artificial Intelligence against billing fraud at the conference on 09.11.2023 and participate in the panel discussion »AI - Advantage for Fraudsters or for Fraud Defense?« on 10.11.2023. The conference offers versatile insights into strategies, methods as well as current projects from the practice of fraud management.

Our course will help you gain a deeper understanding of the image processing workflow for industrial solutions. We cover the basics of image processing, including image enhancement, image restoration, image segmentation, and image analysis using ToolIP. Overall, this course will help you gain the basic knowledge and expertise you need to effectively use ToolIP for image processing in both industrial and research settings.

At the HIH-Summit 2023, the Health and Innovation Hub (HIH) gathers experts, innovators, and stakeholders from the fields of healthcare, technology, and research to jointly gain a deep insight into the current developments and opportunities in the field of healthcare innovation. Fraunhofer ITWM has also joined the HIH as a collaborative partner and wants to actively shape the future of healthcare. At the HIH-Summit, our expert Dr. Alexander Scherrer from the department »Optimization in the Life Sciences« will represent Fraunhofer ITWM and will be available as a contact person for the methodological competencies and health projects of Fraunhofer ITWM.

Supercomputing 2023 is an international conference with a focus on high performance computing, networking, storage, and analysis. Our colleagues from the division »High Performance Computing« will be present and give a presentation. They will also be at a booth talking about several ITWM projects and topics.

Machine and Deep Learning Seminar: Zorah Lähner, Postdoc at the University of Siegen in the research group »Computer Vision« will give a talk on »Permutations in Neural Networks and Quantum Annealing«.

On 16 November, the Aachen Centre for Integrative Lightweight Design (AZL) will be holding a digital lightweight TechTalk. Our expert Dr Hannes Grimm-Strele from the department »Flow and Material Simulation« will give a presentation.

Are you interested in the topics »Explainable AI« or »Interpretable AI« or are you already working in the field and looking for an opportunity to exchange and discuss? Our department »Financial Mathematics« organizes in cooperation with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) a workshop on »Explainable and interpretable AI«. Here you have the opportunity to present questions and first research results from the fields of AI in talks or posters.

The bonding company contact fair Kaiserslautern at the RPTU is the largest event of its kind organized by students in Kaiserslautern. We will also be on site.

The conference brings together experts from the largest insurance sectors in Germany, offers new insights into key topics in the industry and provides an opportunity for dialogue and networking. Our experts from the department »Financial Mathematics« will be on site with a stand and will present the following key research areas of our institute: »Solvency II key figures prediction and explainability with artificial intelligence«, »Modelling of financial markets«, »Consumer protection«, »Decision support for portfolio optimisation«

Machine and Deep Learning Seminar: Mario Ruben Fernandez from our division »High Performance Computing« will give a lecture on »Deep Learning for Seismic Demultiple«.

In the joint project »EnerQuant: Energy Economics Fundamental Modeling with Quantum Algorithms«, our researchers from the department »Financial Mathematics« and the area »High Performance Computing« use advantages of quantum computing for the energy industry. We will present the results of this work in the workshop.

The Graduate Congress Germany will take place on 23.11.2023 and 24.11.2023 at the exhibition center in Cologne. Our employee Isabelle Dieckhoff from our team »Human Resources« will be on site at the joint booth of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

From Sunday, November 26th to Friday, December 1st, eleventh and twelfth grade students will once again have the opportunity to puzzle over fascinating mathematical problems!

The seminar is aimed at military executives as well as researchers and decision-makers from homeland security authorities. The main topics are ballistics, numerical simulation, ballistic metrology, chemical energy carriers and materials. Our colleague Dr. Joachim Jonuscheit, Deputy Head of the department »Material Characterization and Testing«, will give a lecture on site.

Machine and Deep Learning Seminar: Paul Rötzer from the University of Bonn, gives a lecture on »Deep Geometric Consistent 3D Shape Matching«.

On December 4th, 2023, the career event of the Initiative Inklusion will take place, where companies can inform about their career opportunities for talents with disabilities and connect with them. Our employee Ina Lammel from the division »Optimization« will participate in the event and report about her professional career and her everyday work and research with disabilities.

Foam Expo Europe is Europe's largest free trade fair for technical foams and manufacturing processes. It offers opportunities for personal exchange, presentation of new technologies and expert lectures. Our colleague Dr. Dariusz Niedziela will give a presentation about our research, especially our software »FOAM«.

The seminar with practical training »Surface Inspection« consists of theory and practice. We are represented by experts from the »Image Processing« department on site and with presentations and support in the practical exercises.
