At this meeting, we support Young Scientists with targeted activities on quantum computing (QC) and quantum technologies (QT).

Every year, more than one hundred cultural contributions from various fields impress us here in Kaiserslautern at the Long Night of Culture. This year, we are also part of it and have an interactive booth at Schillerplatz with the title »Selfie Art – Becoming a Real Van Gogh With AI From Lautern«.

The IEEE / CVF Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR) is an annual event on computer vision and consists of a main conference and parallel workshops and short courses. Our experts Dr. Petra Gospondetic and Juraj Fulir from the department »Image Processing« are involved in a workshop on site.

The MPF is a workshop in the field of flows. It brings together experts from the field to be able to exchange ideas with each other. Researchers of the Fraunhofer ITWM will also be represented there and give a lecture.

AABC Europe 2023 is an international conference focusing on battery technologies. Dr. Falco Schneider from the department »Flow and Material Simulation« will be on site and give a presentation titled »Studying Performance Effects of 3D Electrode Perforation with Electrochemical Impedance Simulations«.

Special statistical methods are required to provide statistically correct proof of the reliability of components. In a two-day compact seminar, we will provide you with the necessary necessary knowledge to be able to answer core questions confidently.

The 14th International Munich Chassis Symposium chassis.tech plus brings together experts in suspension, steering, brakes and tires as well as automated driving. Our colleagues Dr. Manfred Bäcker, Francesco Calabrese, Sebastian Emmerich, Axel Gallrein and Tim Rothmann from the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Development« will be there with their own exhibition booth and a presentation.

Together with the research group »Optimization« of the Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU), we are organizing the conference ISOLDE XVI, which aims to bring together the operations research community from different parts of the world to exchange experiences in the field of site analysis.

This conference focuses on continuum theories and discrete mechanical and thermodynamic systems. Our colleague Dr. Katja Schladitz from the department »Image Processing« and our colleague Dr. Alexander Leichner from the department »Flow and Material Simulation« will be present with lectures.

This year we will be at the fair Automtica 2023. Our employees Dr. René Reinhard and Quirin Hoesch from the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« will be on site and will inform about our product »Industrial Path Solution XR Demo«.

Our division »High Computing Performance« initiates and hosts a user group meeting at Fraunhofer ITWM approximately every eight weeks to discuss topics related to C++ programming and the associated tooling environments (e.g., compilers, creation tools). In addition to lectures and open discussion sessions, workshops and tutorials are also scheduled. The meetings offer participants the opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge with each other.

This year, the association for the promotion of Computer Science at the Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University (RPTU) Kaiserslautern-Landau (FIT e.V.) will again organize a Computer Science Practice Day – this time in presence. At this event, experts from various companies will provide information about the challenges of their work. It opens up possibilities for students to continue their studies and shows what they can do during their studies to set the course for the future. We are also represented by a team from the division »High Performance Computing« and report on the work at our institute.

In the midst of the Reallabor, we will review three project years with a final presentation followed by a barbecue above the roofs of Erfurt. We will also venture a joint outlook into new and exciting research projects.

The conference of the combined consortia »Data Science, Statistics & Visualisation« (DSSV) and »European Conference on Data Analysis« (ECDA) brings together researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of statistics, computer science and visualization. Our colleagues from the department »Financial Mathematics«: Enislay R. Martinez, Dr. Manu S. Kamalakar and Dr. Stefanie Schwaar represent our institute with a presentation.

Machine and Deep Learning Seminar: Dr. Andrew Cullen from the University of Melbourne will give an English talk on »Breaking the Boundaries of Certified Robustness«.

Fraunhofer ITWM Fellow Lorenz T. Biegler from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA will hold a guest lecture titled »Advanced Optimization Strategies for Integrated Process Design and Operations« at Fraunhofer ITWM on 06.07.23 at 4:30pm.

The Math Talent School is aimed at mathematics enthusiasts who would like to gain an insight into the professional world of mathematicians. Especially those who want to know more about what »applied mathematics« means and want to exchange ideas with others.

During this workshop high-level internal and external specialists, from various fields, come together to discuss the optimization of the »quality/price« ratio when solving complex real-world problems with feasibility-seeking, constrained optimization and superiorization, which involves many algorithmic decisions on the part of the user. These range from choice of the modeling approach to scaling and tuning permissible parameters. Organizers and those responsible are Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Küfer, Dr. Phil Süss, Prof. Yair Censor and Assoc. Prof. Aviv Gibali.

This year, the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) is organizing its 11th thematic conference on multibody dynamics. A team of our department »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« represents the Fraunhofer ITWM on site and gives exciting insights into the current research projects at our institute.

This year, the ninth edition of the »Efficiency Forum Economy« will take place. The focus this time is on the topic of »Sustainable Production and Economy«. Researchers from our department »Systems Analysis, Prognosis and Control« will be on site to present our work on the topic.

IMAGE 2023 is an international event that offers scientific conferences and an accompanying exhibition on the major topics of petroleum science as well as other research fields. Our institute is represented with a team of the division »High Performance Computing« as co-exhibitor of Sharp Reflections on site at a booth.

This course lasting several weeks, which we organize in cooperation with Fraunhofer FOKUS, provides an introduction to the basics of quantum computing and key algorithms. The course gives an overview of the basics of quantum mechanics, quantum gates and circuits, quantum programming and explains the most important quantum algorithms and application areas.

From 29.08. to 01.09.2023 the conference OR 2023 of the GOR will take place in Hamburg. We will be there with our institute director Prof. Dr. Anita Schöbel and experts from our area »Optimization«. Our collaborators Dr. Tobias Seidel and Elisabeth Halser will give presentations.

Einmal jährlich organisiert die Felix-Klein-Akademie für die Felix-Klein-Stipendiaten eine Herbstschule, in der das mathematische Modellieren im Vordergrund steht. Unterstützt von Mathematikerinnen und Mathematikern lernen die Studierenden in dieser Woche das Problemlösen mit Hilfe mathematischer Modellierung und Computersimulationen. Die Ergebnisse präsentieren die Gruppen am Ende der Woche im Plenum.

The conference is intended to serve as a forum for practitioners in the field of nonlinear structural mechanics to discuss recent advances and identify future research directions. An expert from our MESHFREE team, Dr.-Ing. Benjamin Bock-Marbach, will contribute to the program with a presentation.

On September 6 and 7, the status seminar »DigiHubs: research.network.share« of the BMBF funding program »Digital Progress Hubs Health« will take place at the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences in Berlin.

Nine universities in Italy and France are organizing this workshop in Naples. Our colleagues Dr. Julia Orlik Amartya Chakrabortty from the team »Technical Textiles« of the department »Flow and Materialsiumlation« are present with their expertise on the simulation of technical textiles and present two posters.

Fraunhofer IFAM and GMI AERO organize this seminar around repair equipment for composite materials. We present the work with our mobile terahertz test system.

fleXstructures GmbH, IPS AB, Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre FCC and we are pleased to invite you to the 5th International IPS Cable Simulation Conference on September 13-14, 2023 in the home town of fleXstructures Kaiserslautern. Many IPS Cable Simulation users from all over the world already took the opportunity to attend our conferences to learn more about the development of the software and new features, and to share their own experiences with users from different fields and countries. With the 5th IPS Cable Simulation User Conference 2023 we want to continue this tradition and strengthen the international network of experts using cable simulation technology.
