Becoming a mathematician – yes or no?

The Math Talent School is aimed at math-enthusiastic students who would like to gain insights into the professional world of mathematicians. We are especially looking forward to female students who want to know more about what »applied mathematics« is and who are interested in exchanging ideas with others.

During five exciting and varied workshop days, you will learn in group work how industrial questions can be answered in a project-oriented manner with the help of mathematical modeling, optimization and computer simulations. At the end, the teams present their results in a plenary session.

Information on mathematics studies and careers as well as various activities round off the event.

Our tip: The project days are an excellent way to find out whether you like the combination of mathematics and computer science.

There will also be programming in the project groups. You have no or little programming knowledge? That is no problem. You will be introduced to the way of working during the Math-Talent-School.

Participation is only possible if a teacher of the school confirms it. The PDF school confirmation can be uploaded directly with the online registration.

Two secondary school students from Rhineland-Palatinate can participate per school. A maximum of 24 participants will be admitted. The decision on whether or not to accept a participant will be made by the organizers. There is no entitlement to participation.

Costs

No participation fee will be charged. The costs for the overnight stay, the catering, the social program and the journeys between the place of accommodation and the venue are borne by the organizers. Only the costs for travel to and from the event are to be borne by the participants themselves. Accident insurance will be taken out.

Organization

The Math Talent School is hosted by the Felix Klein Center for Mathematics. The project is supported by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the Ministry of Education Rhineland-Palatinate with funds from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).
