    The Car Body Painting Workshop and Exhibition will revolve around the topic of car body painting. Dr. Joachim Jonuscheit, deputy head of the department »Materials Characterization and Testing«, will be on site to present our exhibit on terahertz measurement technology for non-destructive inline coating thickness measurement. Early detection of a faulty painting process (too much or too little paint) avoids the cost-, time- and energy-intensive reworking of numerous bodies and thus makes an important contribution to sustainable production.

    In the Fraunhofer project »UrWerk«, the Fraunhofer ITWM, together with two other Fraunhofer institutes, developed data spaces which clearly represent the history of materials as well as their interactions in complex material systems in the form of graphs and enable the coupling of analysis tools. These data rooms are adapted to company-specific requirements and thus provide easy access to the handling of material data. In the digital final colloquium for the Fraunhofer project »UrWerk«, employees from our division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering«, among others, report on their results.

    On Friday, November 25, 2022, Prof. em. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Helmut Neunzert will be awarded the Palatinate Prize of the Palatinate District Association for his life's work. As a professor of mathematics at the TU Kaiserslautern, Professor Neunzert contributed significantly to the development of techno and industrial mathematics, drove the founding of our institute and led it until its admission to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in 2001.
