The workshop is based on ideas from a joint position paper of the three collaborating »Open Innovations Platform« projects VIPCOAT, OpenModel and MUSICODE. Our colleague Dr. Peter Klein from the division »Optimization« will be present on site as part of the workshop committee.

The herCAREER-Expo supports women in their professional environment. The trade fair stands for gender equality: Whether entering or advancing in a job or founding a company – the herCAREER-Expo offers numerous opportunities for a direct exchange of experiences with experts and personalities from business, science, culture, politics, and the media. Our colleague Elisabeth Wagner-Weig from the Human Resources Department will represent the Fraunhofer ITWM on site. In addition, other Fraunhofer Institutes will be represented.

In our Math Talent School, female students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in workshops and with individual mentoring, and to work in teams on real applied math challenges.

Dr. Matthias Herzog (Debeka)« and our colleague Dr. Stefan Mai from the Management Team »Produktinformationsstelle Altersvorsorge« (»Product Information Office for Retirement Provision«) at Fraunhofer ITWM, will give a german tandem lecture followed by a discussion on the topic »Transparency Initiative – Making bAV Products More Comparable«.

The conference will focus on new testing methods in combination with numerical simulation, issues related to the value chain and the sustainable development of components up to the end of life of the components. Our colleagues Dr. Michael Burger and Dr. Michael Speckert from the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« will be present with a booth and a presentation.

Prof. Dr. Ralf Korn, Consultant at our Institute and Founder of the Department »Financial Mathematics« and Dr. Stefan Mai, Business Area Developer »Retirement Provision and Life Insurance« and Customer Management of the Department »Financial Mathematics« give a tandem lecture on the topic »Solvency Capital Estimation with Linear Regressions and Neural Networks«.

We will be on site with our experts Benjamin Bauer and Dr. Joachim Linn from our division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering«. They will give presentations on topics with a focus on »Simulation of Flexible Structures and Virtual Product Development in the Digital Automotive Factory«.

The conference is aimed at specialists and managers from insurance companies. It offers insights into the data-driven transformation of the insurance industry and highlights areas for action. Dominik Loroch from the »High Performance Computing« division, together with two representatives of the GENERALI insurance company, will give a presentation entitled »Use (this Solvency II) Case! NASaaS trifft auf Least Squares Monte Carlo«.

»K« is the world's leading trade fair and leading business platform for the plastics and rubber industry. Here, representatives of industry and research from all over the world present innovative perspectives and solutions for the future. Our ITWM-colleague Dr. Joachim Jonuscheit from the department »Material Characterization and Testing« will represent us on site, at the Fraunhofer joint booth (hall 7.0, booth SC01). Terahertz measurement technology will be presented as a means of non-destructive testing and paint thickness measurement on plastics (pipes) and paints.

The Technology Day of the Fraunhofer Business Unit »Vision« offers an overview of the spectrum of practice-relevant technologies in image processing and optical metrology and reflects the current state of the art. A team of our experts from the department »Image Processing« will be on site with a presentation entitled »Structure of Surface Inspection Systems and Aspects of Image Evaluation« and an exhibit on the topic of »Robot-Supported Inspection Planning and Surface Inspection«.

Online workshop on »quantum computing as the basis for a new paradigm in computing«. No prior knowledge of quantum mechanics or quantum computing is required.

Industry 4.0 is based on digitalization as well as networking and relies on data, one of its largest and most valuable data sources is NDE (Non-Destructive). This first conference on NDE 4.0 is dedicated to promoting a broad exchange on all topics related to NDE 4.0. Our expert Dr. Henrike Stephani from the department »Image Processing« will be on site with a presentation titled »Challenges and Approaches when Realizing Online Surface Inspection Systems with Deep Learning Algorithms«.

The interdisciplinary exchange of expertise between the TU Kaiserslautern and departments of the Fraunhofer ITWM will take place on November 4, 2022. The event is organized by the High Performance Center Simulation and Software Based Innovation.

The Car Body Painting Workshop and Exhibition will revolve around the topic of car body painting. Dr. Joachim Jonuscheit, deputy head of the department »Materials Characterization and Testing«, will be on site to present our exhibit on terahertz measurement technology for non-destructive inline coating thickness measurement. Early detection of a faulty painting process (too much or too little paint) avoids the cost-, time- and energy-intensive reworking of numerous bodies and thus makes an important contribution to sustainable production.

The conference Quantum Techniques in Machine Learning (QTML) is an annual international event that focuses on quantum machine learning, an interdisciplinary field that bridges quantum technology and Machine Learning. Our colleagues Dr. Ali Moghiseh and M.Sc. Alexander Geng from the department »Image Processing« will give a poster talk.

The Symposium Driving Simulation (SDS) brings together industrial and academic experts from the fields of virtual driving simulation, driving dynamics, ADAS sensor technology and autonomous driving. Our colleagues Dr. Sebastian Emmerich and Tim Rothmann from the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« are on site. Tim Rothmann gives a lecture on the topic »A Toolchain for Virtual Development and Validation of ADAS/AD – Generating Digital Twins and Simulation Environments«.

The Foam Expo Europe is the largest trade show and conference for engineered foam products and their manufacturing. Our colleague Dr. Konrad Steiner, head of the department »Flow and Material Simulation« will give a presentation. In addition, we will have a team on site with a booth and inform you about our software solutions »Digital Twin FOAM: Simulation Chain of Foams«.

The 6th Annual Meeting of the Research Network Energy System Analysis is dedicated to the topic »Systems Analysis for a Resilient Energy System«. Our colleagues Dr. Pascal Halffmann, Elias Röger and Florian Schirra from the department »Financial Mathematics« will give a poster presentation entitled »Cross Market Optimization of Flexibilities in Electricity Markets«.

Supercomputing 2022 is an international conference focusing on high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis. Our colleagues from the division »High Performance Computing« will be present at a booth with several ITWM projects and topics.

The safety of vehicle occupants in autonomous vehicles with novel interior architectures is proving to be a problem in the context of vehicle development. However, it can be overcome by Human Simulation and Modeling and is a central topic at the symposium. Our colleague Dr. Joachim Linn from our division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« will give a talk here on »EMMA4Drive – A Dynamic Human Model for Autonomous Driving«.

The annual meeting PAAT 2022 of DECHEMA addresses interdisciplinary future topics such as climate-friendly and sustainable production, electrification, CO2 and H2 management (e.g. generation, storage, use). Our colleague Prof. Dr. Michael Bortz, Head of Department »Optimization – Technical Processes« will be present with a presentation.

The VDI congress »SIMVEC« (SIMulation in VEhiCle) sees itself as a platform where advances in simulation technology and testing in vehicle development are presented and discussed. Our colleagues Dr.-Ing. Lilli Burger, Dr. Michael Burger and Dr.-Ing. Jonathan Jahnke from the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« will be represented on site with several presentations and an exhibition booth.

TU Kaiserslautern is hosting an online conference on the topics of mobility, energy and data. Our expert in the field of »High Performance Computing«, Dr. Jens Krüger will give an exciting talk on the topic of »Next Generation Computing«.

In the FlexEuro project, researchers from the department »Financial Mathematics« and the division »Optimization« are developing models and methods for the optimal marketing of load flexibilities in various electricity markets. At the end of the project, the project team is organizing a workshop whose goal is to look at the topic of »Flexibility« from different angles.

Image processing plays a key role in many areas of technology for fast and contactless data acquisition. The »Image Processing Forum« aims to report on current trends towards solutions in image processing and to contribute to the professional exchange between the participants. Our colleague Alexander Geng from the department »Image Processing« will give a talk.

In the Fraunhofer project »UrWerk«, the Fraunhofer ITWM, together with two other Fraunhofer institutes, developed data spaces which clearly represent the history of materials as well as their interactions in complex material systems in the form of graphs and enable the coupling of analysis tools. These data rooms are adapted to company-specific requirements and thus provide easy access to the handling of material data. In the digital final colloquium for the Fraunhofer project »UrWerk«, employees from our division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering«, among others, report on their results.

On Friday, November 25, 2022, Prof. em. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Helmut Neunzert will be awarded the Palatinate Prize of the Palatinate District Association for his life's work. As a professor of mathematics at the TU Kaiserslautern, Professor Neunzert contributed significantly to the development of techno and industrial mathematics, drove the founding of our institute and led it until its admission to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in 2001.

The Winter School of the TU Kaiserslautern on the topic of »Computational Geometry« is held at our institute – a workshopt for students and post-docs of mathematics. The main topic of the teaching courses is the introduction to the next generation open source computer algebra system OSCAR. In addition, there will be an info tour through the Fraunhofer ITWM as well as an info session in the division »High Performance Computing«, moderated by our colleague Dr. Mirko Rahn.

Ria Grindel from the Department »Financial Mathematics« and Dr. Isabel Michel from the Department of »Transport Processes« will give two lectures on 29.11.2022 as part of the »Mathematics in the Profession« series of the Mathematics Student Representatives of the TU Kaiserslautern.

The ASAM International Conference addresses aspects of ADAS / AD development, with a focus on standardization. Our colleagues Tim Rothmann and Dr.-Ing. Michael Kleer from the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« will be on site with a presentation.
