Trading and Optimization for Flexible Energy Consumers – Current Developments in Dialogue between Industry and Science

Workshop at the End of the FlexEuro Project

Flexibility in the power supply system has become the buzzword of the day. This is because those who respond smartly to fluctuations on the market and manage their electricity consumption benefit from it. In the FlexEuro project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), researchers are developing models and methods for the optimal marketing of load flexibility in various electricity markets. The consortium includes experts:

  • from Fraunhofer ITWM (Department »Financial Mathematics« and Division »Optimization«)
  • the University of Duisberg-Essen
  • by Decision Trees GmbH (software and consulting company with specific competence in the application of stochastic optimization in the energy industry)
  • from TRIMET Aluminium (TRIMET Aluminium SE, the medium-sized family-owned company develops, produces, recycles, casts and distributes modern light metal products made of aluminum)

To conclude the project, the project team is organizing a workshop entitled »Trading and Optimization for Flexible Energy Consumers – Current Developments in Dialog between Industry and Science«.

The aim of the workshop is to look at the topic of »Flexibility« from different angles. Using the example of aluminum electrolysis in a cross-market setting, we will present how marketing flexibility can be optimized.
