Chemical engineering, biotechnology and bioprocessing are more important than ever to meet current challenges thus as climate change, circular economy or pharmaceutical production. To enable an international scientific exchange despite restrictions that are expected to be still in place in September 2021, the 13th European Congress of Chemical Engineering and 6th European Congress of Applied Biotechnology from 20-23 September 2021 will go virtual! We are digitally on site with our division »Optimization« with presentations.

With MESHFREE a variaty of situations can be simulated, since it adapts efficiently to moving geometry elements such as stirrers of mixing devices or the movement of free surfaces. In the course, we give an overview of the tool and present how the software best supports your demands.

This seminar will cover theoretical and experimental aspects of sensing with quantum light. Topics will include modalities like sensing with undetected photons via nonlinear interferometers, sensing with squeezed light, induced, spectroscopy with entangled light, the generation of highly non-degenerate photon, high-dimensionally entangled light and their application potential for sensing tasks. Three of our experts from the department »Materials Characterization and Testing« will be on site and contribute to the exciting program with three posters.

The SEG Annual Meeting is one of the world's leading and best-known oil, energy and minerals conferences. This year, another conference is being added: IMAGE 2021 will be organised by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and in collaboration with the Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM) in a hybrid format. The wide-ranging program features more than 1,000 presentations, nearly 200 sessions, 14 post-congress workshops, ten special sessions, five field trips, countless networking opportunities and a joint exhibition showcasing the latest geoscience products and technologies. We are attending with a team from the »Competence Center High Performance Computing«.

[only available in German] Als neues Mitglied der Ecoliance Rheinland-Pfalz e. V. stellen wir uns im Rahmen der diesjährigen Mitgliederversammlung vor, bei der wir gleichzeitig auch Gastgeber sind. Wir sind mit zwei Vorträgen im Programm vertreten und präsentieren einmal das Fraunhofer ITWM allgemein sowie schwerpunktmäßig die Gruppe »Green by IT«. Zudem wird es eine Führung durch das Gebäude geben.

[only available in German] Schwerpunkte auf der Tagung des Arbeitskreis Betriebsfestigkeits des DVM sind: die Herausforderungen neuer Mobilitätskonzepte, Werkstoff- und Konstruktionskonzepte, Fertigungstechnologien sowie Lastannahmen und Nachweismethoden. Drei unserer Expert:innen des Bereichs »Mathematik für die Fahrzeugentwicklung« werden mit Vorträgen zum Programm beitragen. Außerdem wird am 30.09.2021 ab ca. 14 Uhr eine Besichtigungstour des Fraunhofer-Institut für Techno- und Wirtschaftsmathematik ITWM angeboten.

Every two years, internationally outstanding scientists from universities, research institutions and industry meet in Kaiserslautern to discuss the latest mathematical methods in process engineering. In this respect, the workshop offers a unique opportunity for scientific discussions and personal networking between researchers from science and practice to communicate and shape the topics of future process engineering.

Das Internet der Dinge (IoT) verbindet physische Objekte mit der virtuellen Welt und ermöglicht dadurch Anwendungen wie Condition Monitoring und Predictive Maintenance, Künstliche Intelligenz übernimmt Steuerungsfunktionen etc.. Bei der diesjährigen Innovationskonferenz werden insbesondere Projekte und Use Cases aus diesen Bereichen vorgestellt. Außerdem können sich Expertinnen und Experten aus Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft vernetzen. Wir sind mit einem Team aus Experten der Abteilungen »Systemanalyse, Prognose und Regelung« und »Bildverarbeitung« digital vor Ort und sprechen zum Thema »Predictive Maintenance«.

PARTICLES 2021 will address both the fundamentals and the applicability of state-of-the-art particle-based computational methods that can be effectively used to solve a wide range of problems in engineering and applied sciences. Some of our experts from the division »Mathematics for Vehicle Engineering« and from the department »Transport Processes« will contribute to the program with interesting presentations.

Efficient distribution and use of renewably generated electricity and heat as well as intelligent energy management within smart grids and microgrids, neighborhoods and buildings – these are the key topics at EM-Power Europe, the international exhibition for energy management and integrated energy solutions. Some of our experts from the Green by IT team will be on site and contribute to the program with an exciting presentation.
