Automotive CAE Grand Challenge
Booth 12
Booth 12
Over the past 30 years, computer simulation has become an indispensable tool in automotive development. Despite significant advances in simulation technology and impressive results in industrial applications, a number of challenges remain. The automotive CAE Grand Challenge promotes the exchange between companies, science, and software development in order to solve these challenges.
We will be on site with our experts from the department »Transport Processes« at the booth of our sales partner scapos AG. Dr. Jörg Kuhnert and Dr. Isabel Michel will report on our software tool MESHFREE in the presentation Meshfree Simulation of EPP Foams during Impact and Deformation. With MESHFREE, we have been providing a software product for grid-free simulation of physical processes in cooperation with Fraunhofer SCAI since 2018. The tool combines the expertise of both institutes in the field of grid-free scientific computing and has a wide range of applications and its origins in the automotive industry.
Dr. Hannes Grimm-Strele of the deparment »Flow and Materials Simulation« will also be on site and will give a presentation on High-cycle Fatigue Models for the Multiscale Simulation of Fiber Reinforced Polymers.
Our expert Dr. Jörg Kühnert will give a presentation on »Meshfree Simulation of EPP Foams During Impact and Deformation«.
Problems in the automotive industry have been the focus of the development of our software MESHFREE for years. With simulation in the early stages of design, problems can be avoided and design aspects optimized long before the first expensive prototype is built.
MESHFREE successfully simulates a wide range of automotive applications, such as water crossing and water management, fuel filling and sloshing, interaction with soil and sand during a crash, and transmission components. See more in the video:
