According to surveys, drivers are open-minded about speed limits: Surveys of motorists have shown that they are increasingly in favor of speed limits on highways. For example, ADAC repeatedly conducts surveys and most recently published 2023 results in May in which just under 54 percent voted in favor of a speed limit. Forty-one percent were opposed.
This is a controversial topic on which there are a great many opinions, but fewer studies that are accepted by all sides. But why is that? How would a speed limit affect climate goals? In order to achieve the climate targets, do we necessarily need the transport sector? How can the number of lives saved be derived? Will speed limits really get me to my destination much more slowly? What are the arguments for and against speed limits?
Many questions, the answers to which are discussed in this episode by blogging statisticians Dr. Sascha Feth and Dr. Jochen Fiedler with host Esther Packullat, guest participant Nathalie Steil and expert Urs Baumgart.
