The China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), with around 4,700 employees, is China's largest research, testing and certification center for the automotive industry. In September 2019, Fraunhofer ITWM and CATARC have signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
In terms of content, the cooperation deals with tire simulation, based on Fraunhofer’s CDTire software. With immediate effect, CATARC will use this software for tire model parameterization for the Chinese CDTire customers. CATARC performs tests and measurements and creates the parameter files using the CDTire PI software licensed by Fraunhofer.
"We are impressed by the excellent experimental equipment and the high level of professionalism with which CATARC approaches this cooperation. From this partnership, we expect an enormous strengthening of our already good CDTire license revenues in the Asian markets", says Dr. Klaus Dreßler, Division Director at Fraunhofer ITWM.
At the "Technology Conference on Automotive Virtual Road Application", organized by CATARC in Tianjin, the signing of the contract was festively sealed. The focus of the conference – with around 150 participants from the Chinese automotive industry – was the CDTire software. In addition to technology presentations by experts from the ITWM, CATARC and sales partner Altair, various Chinese automotive companies, including Chery Automobile, Dongfeng Nissan, Brilliance and Dongfeng Sokon, presented their current successful use of CDTire.
