The Predictive Analytics for Industry 4.0 group invites you to the first meetup event of the year. The topic of the online event is »Implement Predictive Maintenance Correctly: Best Practices, Tools and Practical Examples«. Dr. Benjamin Adrian, will give an insight into the different projects of Fraunhofer ITWM on predictive maintenance systems.

[The event will be held in German] At the event, participants can expect a journey through time to the history of the SIAK network and the starting signal for the future of the Kaiserslautern science and innovation region. In addition, SIAK members and cooperation partners will present a diverse program with livestreams, keynotes, videos, talks, QA sessions, company presentations, behind the scenes and much more. You will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with other companies in the SIAK network. Our institute director Prof. Dr. Anita Schöbel will be there digitally and will present our work in her talk »Energy, Health, Transport: Mathematics for a Good Future« starting at 1:20 pm. The European Microwave Week (EumW) takes place for the 24th time this year. It brings together industry and science. The EuMW provides access to the very latest products, research and initiatives in the microwave sector. It also offers attendees the opportunity to talk face-to-face with those driving the future of microwave technology. Our colleague M.Sc. Shihva Mohammadzadeh from »Materials Characterization and Testing« will give a talk in the »European Radar Conference (EuRAD)« on »Short Range Radar« with the topic »Handheld Mobile Terahertz 3D Imaging Platform with Aspherical Telecentric f-Theta Optics«. Moreover, our colleague Dr. Maris Bauer from »Materials Characterization and Testing« will give a presentation in the »European Microwave Conference (EuMC)« on »Material and On-Wafer Measurements« with the topic »Non-destructive Terahertz Testing of Mica Insulation of Power Generator Rods in FMCW Measurements with a Dielectric Waveguide Antenna«.

The European Mechanics of Materials Conferences (EMMC) are organized every two years by the European Society of Mechanics (Euromech) and are intended to bring together researchers from diverse disciplines who share a common interest in the mechanics of materials. Our colleague M.Sc. Nicola Magino from the department »Fluid and Material Simulation« will give a presentation on »Model Order Reduction for the Stiffness Degradation of Fiber-Reinforced (Composite) Components under Fatigue Loading«.

The WCX™ World Congress Experience is where the engineering community comes together to share ideas about mobility's biggest hurdles – from mass adoption of electric vehicles to development timelines for autonomous vehicles to understanding the global supply chain constraints impacting the automotive industry. Our colleagues Dr. Klaus Dreßler, Michael Speckert and Dr. Sascha Feth from the department »Mathematics for Vehicle Development« will be there with presentations.

Seit 30 Jahren fördert Rheinland-Pfalz die Forschung im Bereich der Künstlichen Intelligenz (KI) und gehört damit zu den Pionieren in Deutschland. »KI made in Rheinland-Pfalz« soll zum Qualitätsmerkmal werden. Unsere Institutsleiterin Prof. Dr. Anita Schöbel, KI-Lotsin des Landes, wird in einer Online-Diskussionsrunde einige Fragen beantworten und mit weiteren Gästen darüber diskutieren.

For the eighth time, PaintExpo will showcase innovations, applications, future technologies and trends covering all aspects of coating. It presents the full spectrum of international product and service offerings in the field of industrial coating technology throughout the entire value creation chain. We are on site with a booth and a team from our department »Materials Characterization and Testing«.

As a leading global trade fair, Anuga FoodTec is the most important driving force for the international food and beverage industry. We are represented in the division Digitalisation (Hall 7.1, Booth A049) with some experts from the department »Transport Processes«. We will report about our software MESHFREE, which was developed together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing SCAI. MESHFREE is an innovative software in fluid and continuum mechanics. This year the fair will take place in Cologne. But you can also enjoy the content from home and exchange ideas in the Virtual Café.

Once again this year, the annual conference with its wide-ranging and varied program offers the ideal framework for professional exchange among colleagues from different fields of activity. Look forward to interdisciplinary plenary sessions on current topics with top-class speakers and discussants from politics and business. Over three congress days, the seven specialist groups Actuarial Data Science, AFIR/ERM, ASTIN, Building Savings, Diseased, Life and Retirement will present themselves. Our colleagues Simon Schnürch and Dr. Stefan Mai from the department »Financial Mathematics« and Dr. Jens Krüger from the department »High Performance Computing« will be on site with presentations.

The Deep Learning Seminar is organized by employees from the field »Data Analysis and Machine Learning« in the department »High Performance Computing«. It is intended to give interested persons an insight into this large field of research and a deeper understanding. Everyone who wants to learn more about Deep Learning, Machine Learning or AI in general is invited. The event takes place regularly on Thursdays. This week our speaker Julia Grabinski (Fraunhofer ITWM, Division »High Performance Computing«) gives a lecture on the topic »Aliasing Coincides With Cnns Vulnerability Towards Adversarial Attacks«.
