The Deep Learning Seminar is organized by employees from the field »Data Analysis and Machine Learning« in the department »High Performance Computing«. It is intended to give interested persons an insight into this large field of research and a deeper understanding. Everyone who wants to learn more about Deep Learning, Machine Learning or AI in general is invited. The event takes place regularly on Thursdays. This week our speaker Kalun Ho (Fraunhofer ITWM) presents his latest papers at ICPR20 and ACCV20.

Semi-infinite optimization, i.e., the solution of optimization problems with infinitely many constraints (SIP), has been intensively studied over the last decades. The progress of computer technology has enhanced SIP methodology significantly. On the one hand, solution methods for this problem class have been increasingly developed and refined. On the other hand, high-dimensional problems, as they often occur in practice, have become numerically tractable. As a result, the range of possible applications has evolved considerably and semi-infinite optimization has been increasingly applied to practical problems in recent years.

The Human Modeling Symposium 2020 will take place as a hybrid event! Participants can attend the event on site in Wiesbaden or online. A highlight of the symposium will be the lecture by Dr.-Ing. Michael Roller from the department »Mathematics for Vehicle Development«. The topic is the Optimal Control of a Multibody Dynamics Based Digital Human Model for the Simulation of Dynamic Driving Maneuvers.

In a joint activity of the Special Interest Groups Mathematics for Big Data and Math for the Digital Factory of the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry (ECMI) this workshop strives to bring together data scientists, mathematicians, and engineers from academia and industry to discuss recent developments in digital manufacturing.

The seminar KL-Regelungstechnik (Kaiserslautern – Control Theory and Control Engineering) is organized by our department System Analysis, Prognosis and Control as well as several research groups of the TU Kaiserslautern. Christian Grußler (Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley, USA) will speak on the topic »Variation Diminishing Systems«.

[Postponed to the 27.01.2021] Also in 2020, the Association for the Promotion of Computer Science at the TU Kaiserslautern (FIT e.V.) will be organizing a practical computer science day - but digitally. At this day, experts from various companies will inform about the challenges of their work. The exhibitors will present themselves digitally in a common room and will also offer the opportunity to withdraw to a private area for individual discussions and video chats. This opens up opportunities for students to find out how they can continue their studies after graduation and shows what can be done during their studies to set the course for the future. We are also represented by teams from the »Optimization« and "High Performance Computing« departments and report on the work at our institute.
