The Deep Learning Seminar is organized by employees from the field »Data Analysis and Machine Learning« in the department »High Performance Computing«. It is intended to give interested persons an insight into this large field of research and a deeper understanding. Everyone who wants to learn more about Deep Learning, Machine Learning or AI in general is invited. The event takes place regularly on Thursdays. Timo Speith (Saarland University, Department of Philosophy) will give a lecture on the topic »Promise of Fair Algorithmic Decision-Making: Unrealizable Dream or Actual Possibility?«.

In Kaiserslautern, there is a unique collection of mathematics and computer science competencies, which are being applied in numerous research projects in areas like Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Deep Learning. The "ML in KL Lightning Talks" is an initiative of the DFKI and the ITWM that offers a new networking opportunity for researchers of all institutions in KL.

The DPG Spring Conference of the Section Atoms, Molecules, Quantum Optics and Plasmas (SAMOP) will take place from 08 -13 March 2020 in Hannover. Event Postponed! The 6th International Commercial Vehicle Technology Symposium addresses different aspects of commercial vehicle development and production. With regard to energy and resource efficiency, the topic of innovative drives with alternative fuels will be focused on. Another challenge is safety, reliability and life expectancy, which is becoming more and more relevant as part of automation. Not only is the improvement of the system components important for innovative commercial vehicles, but also new concepts for their operation must be found in order to increase productivity. Remote diagnostics or cloud solutions are also trends which must be pursued more intensively in the commercial vehicle sector. In order to improve the development and production process, it is important to use more and more powerful simulation tools and methods.

(STFI) Ingenieure, Techniker und Wissenschaftler aus Industrie und Forschung zum Gedanken- und Ideenaustausch auf dem Fachgebiet der Filtration ein. Neben Fachvorträgen zu neuesten Entwicklungen, aktuellen Trends und Marktbedingungen der Filtrationsbranche erwartet die Besucher auch eine Präsentation von technischen Geräten und Produkten im Rahmen einer begleitenden Ausstellung.

[only available in German] Der Fachausschusses ZfP im Eisenbahnwesen der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Zerstörungsfreie Prüfung DGZfP lädt Anwender und Dienstleister aus allen Bereichen des Industriesektors Bahn sowie an Fachleute aus Forschung und Entwicklung zur 11. Fachtagung ein. Neben Fachvorträgen, einer Posterausstellung zu aktuellen Fachthemen wartet auch eine Ausstellung mit Firmenpräsentationen auf die Teilnehmenden. Die 5. Fachkonferenz ML4CPS – Maschinelles Lernen in der Produktion widmet sich ganz den Themenfeldern Verbesserung der Produktion, datenbasierte Automation neuer Geschäftsmodelle durch KI/ML in der Produktion.

[only available in German] Aufgrund der Entwicklungen der letzten Tage hinsichtlich der Ausbreitung des Corona-Virus in Deutschland wird die Veranstaltung zunächst abgesagt. Eine Termin-Verschiebung wird geprüft. Gemeinsam mit Aktueren aus Pflegepraxis und Pflegemanagement diskutieren wir auf der Kaiserslautrer Tagung »Digitalisierung in der Pflege – Potential für bessere Arbeitsorganisation und höhere Arbeitszufriedenheit?« Wege, wie Arbeitsorganisation in der Einrichtung mit Hilfe von Digitalisierung verbessert werden kann. Anlass dazu ist das Projektende unseres BMBF-geförderten Projektes GamOR, bei dem über die Entwicklung einer App die Dienstplanung nun digital unterstützt werden kann.

A postponement of the date will be considered] Content only available in German: Im Zentrum des zweitägigen Seminars mit Praxisteil steht die Wärmefluss-Thermographie, deren Bedeutung als zerstörungsfreies Prüfverfahren innerhalb der Qualitätssicherung weiter zunimmt. Durch die Analyse des Wärmeflusses bzw. der Wärmeleitfähigkeit in den Prüflingen können unterhalb der Oberfläche liegende und daher äußerlich nicht sichtbare Fehlstellen in Werkstücken erkannt werden. Die Teilnehmenden erhalten einen umfassenden Einblick, lernen die Möglichkeiten der Prüftechnik wie z.B. das bildgebende Funktionsprinzip, die hohe Prüfgeschwindigkeit und die relativ einfache Automatisierbarkeit kennen und können anschließend Leitlinien für die eigene Investitionsplanung ableiten.
