Observer Design for Control and Fault Diagnosis of Boolean Networks
Abstracts:
Boolean networks (BNs) are a structurally simple model, which can be used to model gene regulatory networks. By using the mathematical tool “semi-tensor product of matrix”, the dynamics of the BNs can be converted into a model similar to the standard discrete-time state-space model. This enables the study of control problems, such as observer design of BNs for control and fault diagnosis. To this goal, for reconstructibility analysis, explicit and recursive methods are derived at first. After that, if a BN is reconstructible, then an approach for observer design can be given. The Luenberger-like observer for BNs is introduced to facilitate an online implementation, which applies two procedures (i.e. prediction and update).
Based on this, in order to consider a model having unknown inputs, approach for design of unknown input observer is given. For large-scale BNs, distributed observer and reduced-order observer are constructed to improve the feasibility of state estimation.
