InnoTrans, the international trade fair for transport technology, is taking place again and is divided into five segments: Railway Technology, Railway Infrastructure, Public Transport, Interiors and Tunnel Construction. 

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft will again be represented with a joint stand at InnoTrans this year. The Fraunhofer Institute for Non-Destructive Testing IZFP is coordinating the event together with the Fraunhofer Transport Alliance office.

Our colleagues Eril Waller and Dr. Joachim Jonuscheit, Deputy Head of the »Material Characterization and Testing« department, will be represented together with the Fraunhofer Transport Alliance.

They are focusing on »Non-destructive testing of the bonding of windows« because terahertz-based measurement technology from the Fraunhofer ITWM can be used to carry out non-contact and non-destructive structural examinations, for example to test the bonding of windows or to detect water deposits in the outer shell. Terahertz waves are harmless to humans and, unlike X-rays or UV radiation, do not require any radiation protection measures.
